The coastal communities have many medium and large efficiently-run
hotels, as most resort areas do. The chief Costa Tropical resort towns
are Nerja, Almuñécar (which include La Herradura and Punta de la Mona/Marina del Este), Salobreña and Motril.
The main resort
towns on the Costa Tropical are Almuñécar (including La Herradura), Salobreña and Motril with the exclusive
Puerto Deportivo de La Punta de La Mona in its midst. From any of these towns you can easily access Granada,
Nerja, the Alpujarra and the Sierra Nevada to name a few. The hotels here will give you the normal amenities
(some more than others) and provide you a comfortable stay.
Another possibility would be to stay in a small, rustic, typically Andalucian mountain village
hotel. Off the beaten track yet often 20 minutes away from a larger town, these are quaint and
charming places to stay; here you will have the opportunity to be amongst the real Spanish people
and be immersed in their culture. Some villages lie high up in the breathtaking Alpujarra mountains
-- the serenity and beauty you will find here is difficult to surpass.
